Ok... This might be old news to most but it's new to me (heck, saltwater aquariums are new to me)...

I picked up a GREAT book this weekend from Barnes&Noble.. It's called "the simple guide to Marine AQUARIUMS" by Jeffrey Kurtz, 2002, $17.95.

Anyway... It's kinda a aquariums-for-dummies type book... Not that any of us are dummies, but it's nice to have some things explained in "less than scientific" terms...

    Thought I'd pass it on...

Yeah... B&N had about 18-20 different books... I picked up 3 that were "of any interest"...

The Simple Guide to Marine Aquariums... $17.95.

    Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies... $21.99.

And Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook... $13.95.

SGtMA is by far my favorites. Lots of color photos and very useful information.... MRAH looks to be a great book also... Seems like it's going to go alot more in depth....

    Anyway... Just some FYI

I have found that the selection of books varies from store to store whether at Barnes & Nobles or at Borders Books. One store may have a lot of books while another store just has a few basic ones. Amazon.com is also a great place to look for books. It will show new and used books so if you are looking for something no longer in publication you might be able to find it.

I just got the hardcover of "Aquarium Corals" by Eric Borneman at www.borders.com for 30% off. It was $27.96 with free shipping. It is regularly over $40. Actually, on the borders site, the softcover is more expensive right now. A great buy for sure! Anyways, I have read about the first 20 of 405 pages and it is awesome! Packed with tons of pics and tons of useful information.

I have the Aquarium Corals book too. Great book. Great reference when you are in the market for a new coral.

I have "The Reef Aquarium" by J. Delbeek and Julian Sprung. Excellent, in depth book but very expensive - $85 from amazon.

Also for any fishheads out there with lots of money to spare - "Fish Disease: Diagnosis and Treatment" by Noga. This book and a decent microscope and you'll be an expert. $100 on amazon.

I second or third on the Borneman book, very good. Not as much pictures but much more practical information is 'Coral Propogation, Reef Gardening for Aquarists' byt Anthony Calfo. I got it off Amazon a few weeks back and it is excellent. It's mostly text with some diagrams and pictures but the information is priceless. Also if you like taxonomy like me the 3 volume Baensch Marine Atlas is good. You can get them softcover online for about 30 each.

I've leafed through the Sprung/Delbeek books, looks like a lot of good info just dont want to spend $60 each right now.
