    Default Hermit w/ anemone

I just made a big oops, I think. I was ordering a few things from Saltwaterfish.com and saw a 9.99 hermit with anemone. For some odd reason I figured that this was a small little thing, not a big, monstrous hermit bigger than a golf ball! He looks neat with the 4 anemones on his shell, but I am betting he will kill and destroy my reef tank, won't he. It was the only thing I saw that had no description or anything, now I know why!

He looks great, I just did not know what I was getting myself into! That's cool that they move the anemones with them! Right now I have him in the small tank where he can only do minimal damage! Maybe he'll find that mantis for me!
I e-mailed saltwaterfish.com, hopefully they will e-mail me back soon! I'm guessing from that huge claw that they are not reef safe, but...

I'll give him a while in the small tank. He should at least clean it up a little! I hope I can keep him! He's so neat!

Hey, you have a tank that is not a reef don't you....

I looked through my clownfish book (the only one I have with anemones) and cannot find anything that looks like them. A nano is a good idea. I'll think about that. Hey, I have an empty 10 gallon... tanks aren't meant to be empty!

Welp, the guy isn't good for a reef. I guess that this is why I only used these guys once! I have ordered from companies that will e-mail b/f filling order to let me know I have uncompatibles....I like that kind of company. I was told to call a local pet shop to take the crab, he said he doesn't know anyone who would but one if they were smart! OK, so why the F*** do they sell them and not tell you what they are like they do the rest of the critters they carry!

OK, now that I am over the frustration of wasting a precious $10 that could have gotten me something else, how small of a tank do you think I could keep a big old hermit with cute anemones on his back in? Could I put anything else in a small tank with this guy, or would he be it? Really could use some advise to get me past this idiot purchase I made!

    Default ill take him

I've been wanting one of those. if you want to get rid of him id be willing to take him so you dont have to set up the 10 gallon. I Have a 75 fish only tank that he would do great in.

I've got a large baby blue hermit b4. I was warned that he's a fish eater, but it never ate any of my fish. It was living with my snowflake eels. I though one of them is going to be eaten by the other.
Look at all those live rocks on the beach at Florida's state park!
