Orca Laboratories Nitra-Guard Bio-Cubes
A few people have asked me how about the media I was using which eliminated most of the nuisance algae and dropped my maintenance to near zero. I had forgotten because I purchased it on a whim few months back but the stuff works so good I figured I'd share the details. Here is the link for the media. This stuff is the real deal. I've been using chemi pure since I got into the hobby but this stuff blows it away. It works so well I was able to get away with using tap water over RODI with no negative affects on my corals. Not recommended but better then prime by leaps and bounds. The only side affect I noticed was my cheato algae hated it and my mushroom rocks weren't to happy....The rest of my softies and bubble tip anemone continued to thrive. I still recommend using RODI of course. Also like to add that I don't use filter socks and after I started using this stuff my sump maintenance dropped dramatically. I was also using ecobak pellets& kent matrix in a media reactor. Non of that compares. The best way to use this is to put in a media bag wrapped around an airstone and just throw it in your sump where you get a lot of water flow. Over time it dissolves and then just add more. That's it. I've been using since April. In order to get best results it needs lots of oxygen so an air stone is a must.
