As far as money goes...yes, school is going to cost an A** load. She will probably finish school with 120K plus. That is what loans are for. She would have to do something so incredibly amazing to have school paid for via scholarships or grant money. When further your education past your bachelor's, then you do not get subsidised loans and pell grants. Your loans turn into unsubsidised and you're going to be paying them for a long time with interest. That's the nature of the beast in ANY advanced education.
How long has she been working in a clinic? I can tell you now that I was in TONS of denial when I said I wanted to be a Dentist. I would still consider dental school, but I would ask myself why I didn't do Veterinary. The main reason I didn't want to do vet was because of the crazy people that come with their pets. I mean nuts...I could write a book and go on for days at the BS I have to deal with on a daily basis and the nutso people I have dealt with...this is not to say I'm not nuts about my dogs and their care... I figured with teeth, I wouldn't have to listen to people as much ;) plus I love going to the dentist and love the sound of a drill...and I did spend a lot of time in office with my dentist. Everyone in my clinic didn't understand why I wanted to be a Dentist...but now I understand I am meant to deal with animals for the rest of my life. I love my job, am extremely passionate about it and honestly (and not to have my head up my rear) am really good at it in all aspects. I definitely don't want to be a tech for the rest of my life and do have back up plans, but if she LOVES it and doesn't want to stay away from it, then you guys will put in a plan to make it work.
