How confused my 4 and 6 year old are by the new fish tank.

First we go to the fish store, while not uncommon for the family going to a store, actually seeing dad take out his wallet for something that isnt shoes or food seemed to surprise the kids. Then I tried to explain why we paid for a tank but didnt take it home so that it could be drilled.

Tank gets home, and the oldest asks if I'm going to fill it with water? No son, we have some plumbing to do. That leads to an interesting conversation about potties, sinks and the bath tub.

Get the plumbing done and the oldest gets home from school to actually see water in the tank. "Daddy, the tank is crooked." Yes it is, I'm going to take the water out and move it. Oldest, "Why didnt you just put it where you wanted it before you filled it?" This was just a leak test son, off on a tangent about how he doesnt have test yet but Mrs. A says he will have to take one soon.

Drain the tank, put it against the wall and outside we go to clean some rock and sand. "Daddy, why are you cleaning....nevermind can I use the hose?"

Rocks rinsed, sand rinsed. Sand in the tank, rock in the tank and I only have enough water to fill it about half way and have to make more. Oldest..."Daddy, you're not going to fill it all the way?!?!?!?"

After all this, how will I explain in a month into a two month cylce we get to actually buy a fish...only then to put it in a 10 gallon quarantine tank when we have a 90g sitting empty.
