Default Why are people attracted to magnets? *#$&@*(&

As anyone in my family can tell you I HATE scratches on a tank it just kills me and nobody may notice them but I do and I always notice them and thus I don't let anyone touch my tank. If somebody wants to help they can use the acrylic scrubber to get the small tough spots but nobody is allowed to run the magnet.

I cleaned my tank a couple weeks ago and had to leave so I left the magnet connected on the very top corner of the tank which is almost 6' high, fast forward two weeks and the pane is full of algae again and my father in Law walks by the tank and sees the magnet and decides to clean the tank while I'm at work and low and behold the magnet separates and falls down to the bottom of the tank so he reconnects them at the bottom of the tank along with 10 or so pieces of crushed coral and proceeds to scratch the crud out of 10" of the bottom right hand corner of the tank before he realized what was going on.

Let's just say I worked very hard on controlling myself when I saw what had happened and the tank is acrylic so it should buff out with a considerable amount of work since the scratched area is over 30 inches below the surface. Mizeny spoke to Ace which suggested some wet sanding paper to buff it out without having to drain the water which is somewhat of a relief.

This has happened to me in the past and that is why I don't leave the magnet connected but the one time I do Murphy strikes. It just seems like magnets attract people.
