dinoflagellates
Ok, I think I have dinoflagellate starting to spread in my tank. I'm getting a clear slimy coating on my glass/sump, and the water is cloudy looking. You can really tell when you change the filter sock, plus the sock only lasts a day or two because of the slime. I'm not possitive this is my problem, but I think it might be. So, what is the fix. I have changed filter media, added more phosguard and carbon. Now I need to raise my pH from what I have read, which is ok my pH is low. After testing the water the other day, my CA was around 360 and kH was 180 (both cheap api kits) pH was only in the 7.9-8.0 area. With those bad numbers, looks like Kalk might be the way to go. I have been using esv 2 part, but not everyday :( . With no sand and new rock, seems like keeping my levels up is more of a challenge. Using fans my tank has alot of evaporation, so should I look into using kalk w/ ato over 2 part? Any advise would be great, Thanks.
