No, midwives don't generally do c-sections.
They are trained for emergencies and we in large part chose our midwives based on their experience with emergencies. If an emergency occurs they know to see the warning signs early and initiate a transfer.
They're not just little old ladies with a bunch of herbs in their apron -they are trained and licensed medical professionals.
