Cure Live Rock vs. Cook Live Rock

We are in the process of getting a new tank and breaking down our 240gal. We will leave the tank running with live rock and sand until we receive our new tank and have not had any majors problems with our rock. The only problem we have had is some red slime here recently. During the transfer we will be placing about 250-300lbs of live rock in about 5 32gal trash cans with power heads during this change.

Here is my question - Should we cure or cook this live rock during this time? Should I have light on the rock?

Also let me add, once we have the new tank set up, we will leave it with live rock and live sand only for about 4-6 months.
