Several months ago I purchased a crocea the the clams direct group buy and it is still doing good. Although maximas and croceas have different requirements I'm sure, the acclimation and placement may be similar. I placed mine on the sand bed but in a half clam shell that I got from lfs and left it there for about a wk. I put some rubble around it to in the shell to keep it from laying over. After about a wk, the foot attached to the shell and I then moved it up high and glued the bottom side of the shell in a wedged area of live rock. It stayed there for about 4 mos and about 2 months ago, it wiggled it's way off the glued shell and attached to the the same live rock it was glued to and has stayed there very happy. The theory is that it is easier to move the shell it is attached to and glue anywhere you might think it would like til you find that perfect spot. It has worked for me. Good luck and great lookin clam!
