Guidelines for when bracing is needed?
Hey, there!
I'm in the process of designing a custom sump to replace the small-ish one I currently have, and I'm considering using 3/8" glass since it seems to be both a good deal less expensive and easier to join than acrylic. However, I have some concerns about bowing. The dimensions will be 42" x 16" x 20" (lwh). Is the 3/8" glass strong enough to handle that length/height combo without bracing? I would really prefer not to have to negotiate around bracing when working in the sump, but I really, REALLY don't want a glass waterballon to explode inside my tank stand, either!
Thanks for the wisdom,
Derry
