I purchased a reef fan kit from ebay about 2 years ago. It came with 4 80mm fans. I have been using the same ac adapter to power 4 120mm fans. The adapter is very hot and I think the sides may have melted a bit. After reading up on the fans I learned that if you add a few fans they share the watts and go slower than rated. I made a new connector following the instructions on this page http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/di...oling-fan.html. The adapter I used is rated as: 12vdc 500mA 60hz 15w. It worked great for a few hours but now it is dead. I checked the fans with the old plug and they worked. Was I using the wrong plug. The fans are rated as: 12v, .53a How does the mA rating work?
