About 2 weeks ago I set up my Euroreef RS-80 in a 30 gal sump under my 55 gal aquarium. I had to take about 30 gallons out of my main display to move the whole thing out from the wall, because the skimmer didn't fit under my cabinet. When we added the new water back in the main display, 4 of my fish died (see previous thread). Now I know NOT to use tap water anymore...
So the skimmer has been skimming my sump off an on for these two weeks, because I hadn't been able to connect the sump and the main display yet. I finally got a return pump and then ordered an Eshopps PF 300 overflow box. I tried for weeks to figure out how to make my own, and just decided to go with what others said was working (thank goodness for the search option on this site). Between waiting for FedEx, several trips to Lowes, and trips to my brother's house to get the pvc pipe cut (no room for a table saw in my apartment), I've got all the parts now to put it together. But now I've got to go to work, and won't be able to get it up and running until tonight at the earliest. It has been a frustrating two days, and a frustrating process figuring out what I needed to do. I can't wait til I get it done, and I hope nothing goes glaringly wrong. I have searched for a long time on this site learning about how other people have their systems set up, and I've finally gotten brave enough to do it myself. So wish me luck! If all goes well, I should have a much healthier and cleaner tank, and might consider embarking upon something a little more difficult than a couple of clowns. If it doesn't go well, well, I'll have an apartment full of water tomorrow...
