Candy Cane Coral is dieing quickly!

I have seen my chocolate chip sea star on my candy cane coral colony atleast once every day and he spends some time there though I can't tell if he is doing anything.

I think he is eating the coral heads....the soft part of the corals are missing frequently and when they start coming back they are gone the next day.

Is he the culprit?

Tank Parameters are all normal. 120gal with 48" VHO lighting x 4.
