    Default Smalls 40B Adventure

Well after a couple year hiatus from the hobby I have decided to take the plunge and get a reef going again. With Petco $1 per gallon sale I picked up a 40B, 20L, and a 10g (which I do not think Im going to end up using.) So far the plan is to build up a "Standard" 40B with a 20L sump/refuge. I am a stickler for the details so build is probably going to take me a couple months to get where I want it. Hopefully i can get water in it and cycling by Halloween with a hopefully a little help. So i guess ill start off with equipment list and planned stocking list. Oh and as always I am open to constructive criticism so if you see something wrong let me know.

    Equipment list:
Display tank: 40B Done Need to get tank drilled and overflow done
    Refugium: 20l Done
    Return: Reef Octopus dc-3500
    Protein skimmer: BM CS5
    Heater: jäger 150w
    Chiller: Should not need one
Lighting: Undecided going with led due to cost savings and reduced heat radion pro/hydra52 possibly
Controller: Eventually going to get a Apex system to automate everything and datalog
    Water: BRS rodi

Stocking List: Not to sure which direction I wanna go with corals. I have always like zoas and ric gardens but might dabble with some sps and or chalices

    Pair of designer Clownfish
    6 line wrasse
Blue-spot Jawfish or goby/shrimp pair ( could I have both)
Maybe a mandarin if I can get enough pods to spawn in refuge
Maybe something that schools (have a lot of stuff wont see all the time)
    Some type of blenny

Any other ideas are welcome or if I have left anything out. Been busy putting stand together past few days progress is looking good. Will try to get some pictures up tomorrow.

Got some more stuff on the list picked up. Found some hallway runner at lowes prolly 1/8 inch thick that's kinda like memory foam but denser picked up enough to go between stand and bamboo floors, floor inside of stand and between tank and stand. Got the inside of stand painted with killz and are almost done with the baffles in the 20l ( 12" refuge on left 8" skimmer section on right and about 7-7.5 for return chamber). Here's a few teaser pics (yes I know my silicone looks like *%##+?,<>~ bet you can tell what order I did them in ) will silicone last bubble trap baffle tomorrow.

Nice sump. That looks exactly like mine. Where did you get the 2x thick glass panels from?

You sure that stand can hold that much weight? You may want to add some reinforcements!

Well been a long time coming but going to resume the tank build. After the sale of house, a layoff, and a Knee surgery I think I am finally able and well enough to set-up and maintain tank. Decided im not going to drill tank (next tank will for sure be drilled) went with a eshopps pf-1200. I plan on running one of the drain in a "full" siphon to the skimmer area and one drain throttled back going to the refuge. I also plan on putting one more drain in the eshopps overflow as a emergency, after i figure out what water lvl is in the box ill drill a hole higher and put drain.....should almost be a bean animal from a overflow box. I also ordered a waveline dc-4000 return pump. Will be doing leak test within the next week. Hopefully within the month ill get salt sand and rock and will start the cycle process.

I had the pf1200 on my 40 and loved it. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
