cerium oxide - scratch removal

Somehow something harder than my glass got stuck in the felt pad of my Great White Magnavore - I was sick and didn't pay close enough attention when cleaning my glass - i have a bunch of very fine scratches (wont catch a nail) on the outside of my tank now. Ive read Cerium Oxide is the material for the job along w/ some water and a buffing wheel.


anyone ever done it? howd your experience pan out?

This is for a 210 Tall Oceanic.

I wouldn't risk it personally. If it doesn't work then you have an even more noticeable mark. Just my opinion though. If you do it and it works, let us know!

I've used it and it works well. I used a rubber buffing wheel--the kind for buffing vehicles from O'reilys-- and glued a sheet of thin leather on it. The leather keeps the cerium oxide suspended rather then absorbing it up. Mix your cerium oxide to a consistency that is a little thicker then milk. A lot of patience is needed as it is a very slow process.

Thanks Guys! I watched a couple youtube vids on it - and yeah - the main ingredient does seem to be patience.

Most of these are not even deep enough to catch a finger nail (just the light) only one catches a nail, im not to worried about it as it's down near the sand bed, not even sure how that one occurred.
