So, my 4 year old Josiah has taken an interest in reef tanks and spends a ton of time staring into the sumps of my systems. This little guy is very intelligent and I think the sumps/refugiums provide enough micro-organisms to keep up with his brain and provide satisfaction for his very LONG attention span.
So, for his recent birthday we picked up a Fluval Spec V nano and decided to build him a refugium display. The pump is very tiny but the flow seems great. The filter area is decent and could easily be converted into a refugium but we will keep the sponge filter since the display will be DSB and macro algae. The LED fixture has both blues and daylight but they are on a switch which is on a single power cable :( but we are planning to just mount a blue stunner strip to the light fixture.
Pretty unique little tank but obviously is designed for a freshwater system. A few mods and it is easily ready for salt.
We are planning pulsating Xenia, shrooms, inverts and various types of macro algae.
