    Default RO/DI with Water softner's

Do you guys hook it up before the softener or after? I know that part of an RO/DI is supposed to pull out all the salt's meaning that i'm pretty much forcing myself to buy cartridges because i haven't hooked it up before the water softener. Input GO!

I have mine hooked up before the softner; however, when I was googling the issue after the fact it was recommended to set it up like yours on the theory that the filters will last longer because the softner removes preliminary heavy metals and certain other contaminants.

Mine is after the softner, located under kitchen sink. No problems at all. Actually have a RO unit for drinking/cooking and a RO/DI for the aquarium.

This is correct. Just like scale builds up on a faucet, it will build up inside the RO membrane. Feed your RODI system softened water if you have the choice.
