Thread: MH Quit

    Default MH Quit

One of my 250 w metal halides quit working. I think it might be the mogul socket.

Could I test it with a voltmeter to see if the ballast is working?

Thoughts on where to buy a replacement?

    Thanks

    Rick

    Rick,

Perhaps using the voltmeter to see if you've got juice to the socket?

You can order any parts but I doubt that it is the socket. Some time Electronic ballast just fail. You can open it up and see what fail. I know the magnetic ballast fairly well, It just the transformer and capacitor.
One word of caution. Capacitor hold charge so you can get shock even if you unplug the ballast while messing around in the inside of it if you don't know what you are doing.

If you're lucky and it is the socket, they are less than $10 bucks online, but I don't know who carries them in town.
