Can anyone tell me what this is? I picked up a zoa colony today and began to frag it. All of a sudden these things started coming out!!! Are they bad? They look kind of like a shrimp of some sort. Should I leave them out of my main tank?

Chill dudeThey are copepods. Good guys, your fish will eat them and they help keep the tank clean of detritus.
Support marine aquaculture, and share with your friends! Then you will find out who they really are.
Ditto... Various sizes and kinds... They are a good thing.

Oh wow! Thanks. I've never seen them that big. I can rest assured now that I know they are just huge pods. I appreciate your help!
I have heard of super pods that eat zoas. Although I have some pretty big ones in my tanks. Come to think of it...most of my zoas are not doing that great. Hmmm....
-You had me at PWM
That's actually exactly where these guys were hiding! Crazy! I think I'll put them in my QT for now. I'd hate to lose some of my nicer zoas
