Default Any one with experience replacing patio doors? Need some advice.

We just replaced a sliding patio door with a French door and there is some space between the threshold and the tile floor on both sides where the door use to be attached is there anything I can place underneath to seal it? Right now I can kind of see light poking through. Not very happy with the install.

Anthony, did ya'll put down any kind of caulking or sill pan or both to seal the bottom and to prevent water penetration? That might be your easiest fix, depending on the gap you have. Also depending on the foundation you might have a low spot on you slab. Not knowing what kind of threshold you have that came with your patio unit, if the doors open into or out of the house, you might be able to pull the adjustable strip up and use concrete screws to pull down that threshold. the only other idea I have is to use what is called a sub sill plate. Hope this helps....

I have put a 1x that i planed down until it fit. then screwed thorough that into the concrete. That took up the space, underneath. Everywhere else i used that expandable foam in a can, and trimmed around it once it dried. Hope this helps, I have done this at my last 2 homes, its worth it when done.

That's a sub sill plate, we use it most of the time when we're installing a ADA/handicap threshold. On that 1X material, make sure it's treated to prevent rot.

The issue I'm having is that the door sits about 2" above the concrete slab patio so the the front part of the sash does not sit on anything and kind of just hangs there. The inside part of the sash can easily be sealed with caulk, but its the front part I'm worried about. If the sub sill plate will help ill try it. Here's a picture that might make it clearer I hope.

the door swings out so the majority of the sash sticks outside. Im thinking of just adding cement to backfill the space. Is this possible? What is the best way to do it?
