Thread: Metal Shop?

  1. #1

    Default Metal Shop?

Anyone have any experience with metal buildings? I am looking for a reputable builder so I can get some quotes.

I am talking a large building, not a shed in the backyard.

    Depends on price.

    I am looking at 40' X 70' at 12 - 14' tall for the first building. Then I will need a second one built with a 20' X 40' slab for an enclosed building and a 20' X 40' carport - so a 40' X 40' overall footprint built at a later date.

John, I have a buddy that just put up a 30' x 40' building. He ran a lot of quotes and did a fair amount of research. The one he came up with is something like Mueller. Weldshops by Mueller or something.

If you like, I can link the two of you and he can feed you his data. I had thought that american steel buildings would have been the cheapest, but not so much.

Thanks Allan. I talked with Mueller today and am receiving a quote. Only problem now is that they do not construct and I will have to find someone to do it or oversee it myself.

I have plenty of other things to do, so not sure where I am heading next with it.

His buddy helped him put it up and weld it together at $25 an hour. Apparently that dude worked for Mueller for a number of years.

How big are the beams planned? I've got access to cranes.

We talked about that didn't we? Still need to figure out the rest of your landscape by the way.
@ $25 an hour it will add up in a hurry, but that is cheaper than a full construction crew putting it together. Just don't know if I will have the time to devote to it.

Thanks for the offer. I am not sure how big the beams are yet. Waiting for the prints to be drawn up. I do know that it will be modular so I am hoping there won't be too many large beams to place.

Is this for your back yard coral propagation initiative?

I've held of on getting the topsoil because of the added weight on the truck. Gloria said it was up to me as to what to put in the terrace. When it cools I've got to lay out plans for the back yard.
