    Where would somebody find those locally?

    Try Academy, is it the same size used on Paintball guns?

    I used to get them at Walmart. Academy will also have them though anywhere with air soft or paintball guns will carry them though.

    Woohoo. The cartridge costs 50 bucks from the equestrian supply catalog but I can get it for 20 bucks straight from hit-air. (found that out when I was looking for an air-bag pic).
    They are easy to deploy if you forget to unhook yourself before dismounting so at 50 bucks a pop (literally) that's no fun...

    Do you tie off onto the horse and if you fall it discharges and inflates the air bag to soften the landing?

    yes, it's like an airbag vest. It attaches to the saddle. If the rider detaches from the saddle the airbag goes off before you hit the ground (They also sell this for motorcyclists) so you have neck and back support.

    Cool. That's what I was thinking about, motorcycles. Why don't they just sell horses with them built-in? BMW puts airbags on motorcycles now.
