    Default will phosphates evaporate

    i just got sand for my tank and dont wanna feed nuisance algae with tap water for the rinse, also if i did use it would phosban have a chance in clearing it up. i heard if u use phosban with tap it wont have a chance and yes i already have the tank filled with RO water. just dont have a ton of RO to rinse the sand with.

    I've always rinsed my sand with tap because of the amount of water it takes to clean it all the way. I would just run the gfo when you add the sand to your tank to remove the phosphates as they leach out.

    I started my 150 off with sand rinsed in tap, and filled up and started the tank with tap and prime. but I ran high grade BRS GFO, after about a week. had a lil cyano but keeping up with gfo and doing a 20% water change with RO/DI has knocked it out. so no I wouldn't worry about rinsing it with tap
