Not cool with the countertop puddle name for a thread. I was assuming the worst. That rhodac pic is banana sandwich!

200g-No Corals Yet!
So today I got some sweet LED lights for my 10g nano. I was only able to fit 1 over the tank but I bought both so I could use them on a larger tank I plan on setting up later in the year.
To mount the lights over a tank using the mounting brackets you have to use these screws to keep the fixture clamped down on the tank. The screws had rubber on them and when you tighten them against the tank the bracket tightens around the rim...
I made the mistake of over tightening them and it cracked the glass!!I was so angry but quickly calmed down ater remembering its only a 10 gallon.
I went out for a replacement tank and came home with a 20g tall. So after setting up the whole new tank and trying to mount the lights I discovered they are not good for tanks with rims!!
I was not gonna let it go without a fight. So I did something that would make anyone very nervous and with the tank full and stocked I cut the middle section of the rim off. All corners are braced I just took off enough for the lights to fit. About mid way through it I realized what a stupid thing I was doing but figured i'm already 1/2 way there can't turn back now.. After about 15 minutes I finally got it off and the lights are happily mounted to the tank and I am very happy.![]()
I discovered something else since adding my LED lights. LED lights = NO HEAT.. I did not have a heater on the 10 gallon because the PC lights kept the tank at temp. With these lights the tank now needs a heater. I will also need more dry rock. I'll be on the hunt in the WTB and FS section.
I know it looks funny with the HOB filters on the side but its the only way the lights fit. It's temporary until I get the 50g up and running this year. Here are some pictures of what I did.

and NO the pot is not the sump and the crock pot is not the heater LOL.
Definitely need a heater.
Looks good though. Those led's give it a nice touch.

Eesh, I'm getting ready to mount a LED light to my kids 10 gallon freshwater tank using the same method. Maybe I'll hold off on taking the trim off.

Ahhh my corals are warming up.
Here is a clear image. Now I just need to get some more dry rock and mount the corals.

That looks soooo nice. By any chance would u have another powerhead laying around for sale?
Looks sweet man! Just curious, would one of those fixtures be enough coverage for the tank?
nice job Rick...the LEDs look sweet, did you try and push them together to resemble one fixture?
ahh dude, those fixtures would have worked perfect on each end and the filters on the back... maybe?
