    Default Caps

just bored and thinking about my dream display...after seeing Mike's flower petal cap in his 60g I'm thinking it would be cool to have a large, long tank and at both ends nothing but different types of large caps. I love the growth patterns on the scrolls.

I like the shelves caps make as well, really makes for a natural looking reef, some of my favorite pieces of "live rock" are actually just large dead caps that I killed over the last few years

that looks awesome...gonna be another year before I can do another personal display tank, waiting until we buy a home. Think I'm getting excited a little too soon now.

It is amazing how fast they grow and take over. I through some in my sump which has regular T5s not HO's and they are growing in there.

For a long time I've wanted to do a tank that was almost completely one type of coral. Zoa's would be nice, but I think I've decided on scrolling caps. A whole tank filled with the most colorful ones I can find. I just can't get motivated to tear down my tank.

We had two that grew together on their own (purple "ugly" and a deep reddish orange) and I loved the effect. Soon thereafter a huge area on one of the caps was killed by contact from a neighboring gorgonian - to my surprise. I glued a third kind of monti (Flower petal) on the dead area and these three are now all swirled together. If my glue/putty skills will improve I'll have a fourth kind in the mix any day now, keeps coming loose and was carried away by the pin cushion urchin yesterday. I love my little cap garden area of the tank.

Let's see if I can add some mediocre iPhone pics...

Yall have me thinking about SPS again with this thread... I would only venture into the montis again though. I just love their colors and relative ease of care.
