Red face Kittens...in several weeks! Read for more info

    Hi MAAST,

I am a confirmed, verified member of the 'sucker for animals' clan. As such, I regularly end up taking in animals, short or long term, that are in need of assistance. In this case, it was a pregnant cat. Specifically, a stray pregnant 6-7 month old tiny cat nicknamed Biggie Smalls for the time being. Biggie is either a russian blue purebred or a blue mixed at some point with american domestic shorthair. As for the baby daddy? No idea. I would describe the kittens to you...but they're not born yet! I've decided to be as proactive as possible about seeking homes for them. This gives you, the potential adopter, a pretty neat opportunity. If you think you'll want one of our kittens, you'll be welcome in our home at periodic times as they grow up to play with and get to know your future pet. Then, at 8 weeks, you can take your kitten home! Our only real request/requirement is that all of these kittens will be fixed and vaccinated. There's just no need to go spreading even more cats out there when so many need homes. The mother was tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia today, so we don't have those results in yet. The mother will also be available for adoption. Message me for more information! I will try to post pictures as we get them of momma and her kitties.

    Thanks for reading!

Aww. I love cats! Good luck with finding them all homes and enjoy them while you got them.
(unfortunately I can't adopt any. One more and I'll be single again. my husband has demanded I wait to turn into the crazy cat lady until AFTER his death)

Welcome to the "sucker for animals" club! You're in good company around here. Lol. For years Mike swore up and down that we must have some sort of secret symbol on our house to let strays know it was a good place to stop, sort of like the ones that the homeless used to use to note where you could get a handout. Have fun with the kitten adventure.

Good news! Biggie (and thus her kittens) are negative for FIV and FeLV. To answer a PMed question, we do intend to have them spayed/neutered unless an adopter wants the procedure done at their own vet. We'll go to SNIPSA and have the whole group done once the kittens are able.

Thanks to everyone who has commented or PMed with interest, advice, and support. Unfortunately, Biggie went into labor yesterday and began to hemorrhage. She did receive a life-saving c-section, but none of the kittens were able to make it. She's made it through the first 24 hours post the surgery and blood loss, so she should be OK. If anyone has dealt with a cat losing kittens, I would appreciate any advice. We are doing our best to keep her comfortable, but she is still looking for her kittens when she's lucid. If anyone is interested in adopting her (a small -6mo russian blue), we are looking into adopting her out once she has recovered, though we plan to keep her for as long as it takes to find a great home.
