Thread: Golden pearls

    Default Golden pearls

I have been doing some reading on golden pearls fish/coral food and was curious if anyone has used it. It seems that alot of fish breeders in Europe are using it to raise their fry. From what I've read so far most are using the 300-500 micron size to replace baby brine, but they also have 200-300 micron size to replace rotifers. It seems like some good stuff that could help make raising fry alot less work with higher success rates. If anyone knows of any good articles on the subject please share. http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/oth...icle-c149.html

No one raising fry has tried this, or put some though into it?

I buy some stuff from BSD so I also tried the golden pearls just as tank food. As you know I dispense it similar to what tebstan does in the auto feeder along with Fauna Marin powdered foods.
I noticed I get more cyano when I use the GP so I stopped adding them.
I guess that's really probably the main concern. I know especially with seahorses bacterial infection and water quality issues are a major cause of loss so perhaps the convenience of not having to culture livefood is balanced with the trouble of having to watch water quality much more closely?

I just went back to culturing live phyto because I messed up the balance in my big tank quite a bit with dosing too much frozen algae paste. It's much harder to overdose live foods - much easier to overdose frozen/dried/dead food.
