Forums like RC are able to have a little more lax selling rules because they moderate heavily, no questions asked later. No one wants that for a local club...do they? It's funny how people get upset and threaten to run off to RC. Obviously they haven't been using RC like MAAST because they have a zero tolerance policy over there. They don't know you from Adam or Eve and could care less what your intentions were. It's a great place for information, but it ain't Cheers

Really??? I'm the only one to put that statement of leaving to Reef Central out there so I know you are talking about me. You have got to be one of the rudest moderators here at Maast. You are supposed to up build Maast, but instead you make things worse with your rude and condescending posts and comments. Moderators are supposed to be unbiased and somewhat tactful. If you don't have anything positive to add the thread then go moderate or something somewhere else.

Also, Maast is represented at Reef Central. If anything Reef Central Is getting more open and loose with certain things they do over there. They opened their search engines to "Everyone" instead of paying members only. And not that I agree, but they are now allowing certain curse words to be posted. And most of all their "For Sale" forum has a simple 50posts/90day rule that allows "Everyone" to post things for sale.

If you are here to stir up trouble then I only have one thing to say to you.... DONT!!!

there was another member that posted something pretty inflamatory (in fact I don't see it anymore) with his declaration of leaving for RC so you are not the only one- in fact I think I can think of 3 right now.

It's not like you have to get married to MAAST. You can totally do both - RC AND MAAST. And we don't have to try to be totally identical to RC just because it's popular. If MAAST annoys me I don't mind spending more time at my Seahorse site to chill a bit. If I got specific questions I have no qualms asking Cliff and Randy on RC for answers.
And I've sold fish stuff on RC, Craiglist, MAAST and Ebay. Each have some advantages and disadvantages.
We don't expect anybody to be exclusive with MAAST. ;) Just get what you need from wherever you can get it

I am waiting for somebody to better explain what I am trying to say. The things that make MAAST special to me are more important to me than the things that make RC special to me. I do see the two as completely different though with different potentials.
Like Justin said being a smaller club and knowing people in person it's easier to see when somebody just has an off-day than just take it by what is typed and write that person off and stuff like that.
Since MAAST is serving a much smaller area (TX vs the rest of the World), chances are we will never have the huge group of subject matter experts on MAAST that you find at RC. And we have a lot of hidden gems here that are available if you know whom to contact, etc. In many ways to me it already is the best board.
This year has been especially rewarding for me since I got more involved with stuff. Something RC definitely couldn't offer me.

That's great! I want that too! And I'm really glad that when I moved to Texas MAAST was here, people helped me out, I've gotten a few new friends, seen some great tanks, learned how to build stuff, met some really cool people in Corpus, et. al. I personally couldn't have gotten that at RC.

I think negative or rude comments whoever they come from or are directed at are distracting from what we all want from MAAST.

Totally possible. But there was a thread that was way more offensive that got moved to the vault and I think everybody that has read it will remember it. And it wasn't yours But every time since that deleted post it's on my mind when I respond to the web issue and I think it's what many people think of when they say some of the things disgruntled web members have recently posted has not helped their cause and definitely NOT fostered goodwill.

David, I can understand your frustration and the evidence pointed at Justin. I cannot speak for him and won't, but there have been others that have threatened and said they would leave for RC out right. What I can say is that this a very heated topic. I truly believe that all involved want what they feel is best for MAAST. What ever your opinion or mine or anyone elses opinion has been the one thing I have enjoyed the most about this whole thread is the fact that we have been able to discuss it and not turn it into an argument. To me that says a lot about where we are and were we are heading. Please keep the ideas, comments, and suggestions coming with out losing the point.
