Hmmm... doesn't really look like typical HLLE to me though. More like a fungus or something? Bacterial infection?
I don't know what it is, but Mike has a trigger that has developed some horrible tumor-like growths on his tail, so if your trigger trouble doesn't get better maybe we should start up a diseased and disfigured trigger tank for the two of them (at your house)!

thanks for the Link to the Forum on RC. After reading it. I've got many many questions and theories as to what could be causing this or what it may be. It looks Similar to the photos on the forum. But I can't pin point what's causing this. And why this is the only fish affected. And it appears the biologist who started that thread have not come to a conclusion either.
Kristy yea that would be neat. To have a tank dedicated to the wounded and dis figuered. May be suitable for my 90 cube that will be Empty soon enough

The Reefkeeping article that Erik linked is one of the better ones out there on HLLE. Notice that carbon is only one of many other conditions known to be associated with this syndrome. To presume that running carbon causes HLLE is a pretty wild and oversimplified assumption. If you are interested in learning more about HLLE, the series of three articles that Steven Pro credits as sources for this article (by Terry Bartelme) were really great reading if you can find them!
