Minimum tank size for a naso?

I'm curious to get people's opinions on the minimum tank size needed to keep a naso tang fairly happy. I know the answer the fish books give. However, I want to hear from those of you who've kept a full-grown naso for a couple few years. How big is just getting by, and how big is reasonably comfortable?

I would say 200 plus IMO. Once settled in they grow pretty fast

6ft in lenght minimum for an adult. A baby can live in a 75-100g 4-5ft tank for a while. With tangs the longer the better; 6ft minimum is a good rule of thumb for tangs especially blues, naso, unicorn (tangs with longer oblong bodies versus the round shape of a yellow or scopas)

You wouldnt be asking if you didnt think your tank may be to small. What size aquarium do you have and what size fish are you looking at baby, juvi, adult?

We have a naso and she if fairly happy.. Our tank is a 240.

Totally agree, min. 6ft for any adult, and you can get away with a foot or two less as youngsters. Also agree that fish shape matters, and the more vertical shaped the fish, the deeper the tank, and the more horizontal the fish, the longer the tank - not always the case, but something to go by.

Can't get anything past Ray... ; ) I'm putting together a 110L (think standard 125, minus a couple of inches of height) as a predator tank, and I'm looking for a larger cruising fish to add more motion. I don't want a trigger b/c I'm definitely getting a lionfish, and I don't want to deal with the trigger nipping the lion's fins. I love the look of the naso, and there will be only four fish in the tank, but I'm concerned that even a 6' tank might not be big enough for an adult naso. I would introduce the naso as a juvie in the 5-6" range.

you could get a niger trigger - i have four of them in with my lion - no nipping issues.

Really?! I love nigers, but I shied away from getting one when I kept reading about the fin nipping. How are nigers with eels? There will eventually be a jeweled moray in the tank, too.

have a zebra moray in the same tank - no issues.

We also have a lionfish with triggers together, but chose the most "community" of the triggers (pink tail, picasso, and blue jaw). So far so good.... no nipping going on two months together now.
