    Default DIY, Natural Laundry Soap

Tried this tonight and it was stupidly simple to make. I thought grating the soap would be tedious but it took seconds. Only takes a tablespoon per load, no huge boxes or bottles in the way. I stored mine in a Bill Miller container. There is also a liquid recipe... if you wanted to make it tedious.

    Arm & Hammer® liquid 100 ounce detergent – $6.79 – 32 loads = $0.21 per load
    Tide® with Bleach powder 267 ounce detergent – $20.32 – 95 loads = $0.21 per load
    Jabs Homemade powder 32 ounce detergent – $2.98 – 64 loads = $0.05 per load

Just made another batch of this stuff and thought I would give this thread a bump for anyone looking for a more natural, economical detergent.

Cool. Be sure and tell us what you think. Let me know what bar soap you use. I am wanting to find something with a scent to it. The ivory wasn't very aromatic.

There is also a dishwasher detergent. Same stuff just add citric acid and kosher salt

My mom has been doing this for months...she saves gallon jugs and then makes a big batch of liquid soap and gives all the kids some it works so good. she even has different scented oils she adds to it to make it have different smells. works great! and its cheap!!!

Justin, check out the selection of Dial barsoaps. They have a couple of semi-new flavors that are really nice, if they will work with what you are doing.
