My mom had a Piranha when I was a little boy and it choked on a chicken bone.

I have watched a beautful 6 year old Melanurus wrasse choke to death on a mysid shrimp. I actually watched him gasp for his last breath:( How do you give a fish the Heimlich Maneuver?

Just reach in there and grab him. My shovelnose cat was choking on a tank mate, and I had to make a call. The half swallowed one was at an angle and barbed, so he had to be cut in half to save the big cat. It was awful and I had nightmares and had to pray for forgiveness. But the shovelnose survived.

In order to get water thru their gills, their mouths have to be open.

My Bluespots have scared me a few times when they grabbed a piece of silverside bigger than you could imagine. It stuck in their mouths for 15-20 minutes before they figured out how to get r down.
