    Default Vermetid Snails

So what makes vermetids bad? They seem pretty benign. I have a rock in my QT tank that I am debating on putting in my DT (because it has corals on it ;) )
but it has vermetid snails on it.
So are they to be avoided (in which case I can just take the corals off and reglue onto dry rock) or just part of reef diversity?

the only time i have seen them cause problems is when they get big enough that their slime web covers parts or all of corals and keeps them from extending their polyps. mosty a problem with sps tho.

If you need to target a particular worm, just crush its tube with a pair of pliers as close to the rock as you can. My fish usually enjoy the resulting snack.

When I had a few big ones I filled the hole in the tube with superglue gel. That was the end of them. The small ones don't seem to bother anything.

In high nutrient evironments (ya know, when people feed a lot...) they breed like rabbits and annoying little tubes pop up everywhere and spread gross looking string across anything near them. I'm not a vermetid fan. The creepy little things can get freakishly big too. I've popped them with feeding tongs and done the superglue thing. Both work well depending on the circumstance.

If the rock is in quarantine, can't you try to eradicate them there and see if they reappear after a few days?
