    Default Why so many bubbles?

Im running my new tank but the overflow tube into the sump is constantly "gurgling" and spewing large bubbles, or pockets of air. Not the typical micro bubbles. What does this indicate? It keeps splashing water onto the floor which is not ok!

    Thanks in advance

If your running a stockman or durso standpipe and the drain is under the water level in sump, lift it up to water level or above.

Its a durso, already came on the tank :( so the end of the drain should be out of the water?

If it's not venting correct, then yes.

The durso on my tank developed the same problem a few weeks back. I put a 45 degree elbow at the end of my durso drain. That way part of it is underwater and the rest is slightly above the water line. It reduces the splashing but still allows the pipe to vent.

I am assuming your durso has a hole in the top? I put some duct tape over the hole, and peel it so it gets just enough air that the t off, at the top is halfway under water. This allows the air to burp off in the top and not out of the bottom. Still burps every now and then.
