    Default Adding dry rock

I want to add a couple of pieces of dry rock to my aquascape to build it up. My tank has been up and running for about 9 months. Will this harm my tank and/or what will happen to it?
    Thanks
    Mark-

Shouldn't have any negative effects that are detectable. There is nothing live on it so no die off, so you shouldn't get a spike or anything like that.

    depends on the dry rock.
fossil rock shouldn't have much on it. dried liverock might have some organics left to decay

Mark you have nothing to worry about. If you have any doubt boil them in some RO water then place them in the tank.

I recently heard of someone boiling/baking their rock and then placing it in the freezer.

I just added 100 pounds of dryrock from marcorocks.com to my stocked cycled tank with 0 ill effects. You are good to go bud!

I have not purchased it yet. I was thinking of getting some from Ed over at Phenomenal Aquatics. Do you think that rock will be ok?
    Thanks

    Dried Liverock:

Fossil rock hasn't been in a reef for millions of years. It's fossilized. No organics left on it. Pure rock.
I'd put fossilized rock in a running tank without much worries

Dried liverock has been in a reef not too long ago. True everything on it is dead and gone. Some sellers clean them very thoroughly but there still is a good chance that organic debris is left on there somewhere (sponges, etc.). Is it going to be some major stuff? Probably not. But I'd consider a little more prep work for this kind of rock than for the other kind.
