When I moved here back in 1997, there was a huge moth infestation. We took a trip to Corpus Christi and had to stop twice to clean the windshield. It was real bad. I have seen the field crickets like this before maybe 6-7 years ago.

I am lucky, I don't have a problem, I have chickens (they keep the scorpions down too) :-)

My first year here the crickets freaked me out. I would catch them to evict them and sometimes they would lose a leg in the process and I'd mail the legs back to Germany to show my friends how BIG the bugs were in Texas. There's bugs here that are bigger than some rodents back home.
LOL a few adult bearded dragons will take care of the crickets in no time.... to bad they have the nasty hard black shells....

But no kidding about the bugs or lack there of in Germany. I remember when I lived there nobody even had window screens on their house just open the windows and your good dont have to worry bout any bugs flying in. Here you try to seal off every access point and trap them and you still see the bugs all over.

    I have a bearded dragon
I don't dare feed them outside bugs though since I am not sure if the neighbors spray any kind of stuff. Like Dustoff though the chickens gobble up whatever they can find though. We don't see many crickets around here
