need help with a OB1 truck

the check engin light is on and auto zone doesnt check ob1 codes does any one know a free/ cheap place to do it... ???

pepboys wanted a $100 for it i dont want to pay that much for them to just tell me something silly like my gas cover isnt on tight enough

Not sure if this is exactly the same as your truck, as I'm not under the hood, but it claims it's the same. Hope it helps JT.

On OBD I codes if there anything like first gen Chevy's you should be able to make a jumper and check the codes yourself. Check the Ford forums for advice doing this. If all you will need is a Chilton or Hanyes repair manual for the codes defintions.

thanks for the offer im going to try and work on this but they said its very easy to fry the ECU so i dont really want to do this being my first time messing with an OBD1 truck ...
