Reeflo Snapper Pump Hybrid (FYI for those who care)
I had to upgrade to a more powerful pump. After reading reviews on the net about different pumps I decided to go with the Snapper Hybrid. It can start as a regular snapper, and then has a nice conversion kit to get the same flow you would recieve with a Dart. I thought that was nice in case I wanted to increase flow even more later.
One other feature were the claims that the pump was extremely quiet. I have found out that there are actually TWO motors. The regular Snapper (the one I bought) has a AO Smith motor, which is not incredibly loud, but it is not quiet either. Turns out there is a Snapper Gold which has a Baldor motor that is apparently the 'ultra quiet' pump... the claim is that someone had to put their hand on the pump to tell it was running.
So, hopefully I can get the good folks at Reeflo to help me out with an exchange/swap. But it is time to move on to the Snapper Gold.

good info, thanks for posting. how is it with heat transfer? the reason i ask, i have a velocity 4 pump on my closed loop and it is heating my tank up quite a bit. i may need to switch to something else, and quiet is a must. could you report back once you get the snapper gold please?

It's nice that they would save energy compared to submersibles. Not cheap though so they better be good.
I'll need a new return pump for my bigger tank. Please let me know how it works out for you.
We're talking about something like this (link) right? Too bad they don't come with less gph. That's quite a bit of flow going through the sump.

ive got the sequence dart with halides and return pumps and fuge light on 24/7 cant post on heat transfer. the motor drives an impeller so dont think any heat transfer. but i can say mine is very quiet. fans that i had cooling my tank were the only thing you could here. using dart for closed loop circulation. dont know what motor mine has.
