Golden dwarf morey eels help with feeding

I got a pair of golden dwarf eels on Tuesday I was told they were eating fresh tuna and also shrimp.

I know they dont feed often 2 times a week or so but they have been totaly ignoring any food offered I have tried fresh fish shrimp myss shrimp all with and without garlic. I am not to worried yet they do swim around the tank and always have there heads out of there hiding spots.

anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to eat or what kind of live food I can try ?

call the store and ask what brand they use to feed them ....
i know we had got a white eel in and they guy had him for a while said he ate realllllly well but he didn’t he for us for a week than started have his appetite

I would try some live ghost shrimp to get their feeding response back. They are probably just stressed from the move.

live ghost shrimp , is probably a good idea, theyre probably a lil stressed out . theyll get that appetite back in a week or so.

I actualy did add 10 ghost shrimp in there on Sunday after noon, There is also a dwarf fuzzy lion fish with them and so far there are no signs of any shrimp but there is alot of live rock in the tank so they may be in hiding.

the ghost shrimp will not last long in a saltwater tank. You should put them in a fishbowl and add them one at a time, maybe with tongs so you can entice the eel by waving it around in front of him.

Any update? Some times you can tease them by putting the food on the end of some rigid tubing...make them think it is alive.

they come out and swim around the tank more than I thought maby they are looking to escape. I have used tongs and a clear plastic feeding stick. They just turn there nose away and do not show interest in the food but don't seem afraid of it. I have left chunks of shrimp where they hang out over night and it looks untouched.

Why would the ghost shrimp not last in a salt water tank ? We used to pump them out of the mud flats in the bay in California or are they not the same kind of ghost shrimp ? if you mean they will be eaten by other fish all thats in the tank are the 2 eels and 1 dwarf fuzzy lion.

there are fresh water ghost shrimp and salt water ghost shrimp. the ones you buy at local shops are usually fresh water. you can go down to the coast and catch the saltwater one.

I used to have a chestnut moray (also a dwarf) that first started eating for me when I offered squid. Have you given that a try yet?
