Thread: Air in sump

    Question Air in sump

I tried getting my sump up and running last weekend. I have a 30g with a 10g tank for sump. CPR overflow with 3/4" flex tubing to the sump. Rio 1400 with 3/4" flex tubing back up. Everything was functioning and working as designed except... the drain into the sump was dumping a TON of air into the sump. Anyone know how to remedy this? If that's how it works, I'd rather just do without it. Thanks

What size is the overflow? if I remember correctly someone else had an issue w/ this and it was found they were not able to pull enough water through the overflow due to size of the overflow which was causing the issue. Have you checked for any air leaks @ connections or on the hose itself?

also adding ball valves helps i have mine cranked down to about 75% open to keep the gurgling down, its due to my smaller return pump.
