Sump Build

OK, well I finally got all the materials needed to put together a sump. This is a 30g long w/ glass dividers. This will be for my 45g display tank and my 30g frag tank. Sump setup is pretty simple. I used 2 1" sch80 bulkheads for the 2 external return pumps. Then I just simply made a bubble trap, refugium and return chamber. When the skimmer is added it will be a tunze in sump skimmer or a aquaC ev180 setup external. More pics will be added as soon as I leak test, then install in the stand.

Now built, just waiting for a leak test. Yea, the silicone job isn't very pretty. Owell, late night and its only a sump. Thats what I keep telling myself anyways.

Looks good, Stephen! I like how you meshed off the lower baffle in the bubble trap.. Silicon job looks fine to me

Not that theres anything wrong with AquaC hardware, but I'm a huge fan of the Tunze hardware... I've got both a Nano DOC 9002 and a Slimline DOC 9010 -- both are almost identical in construction (the main difference being size) and the simplicity is fantastic... very much plug and play

I was thinking about trying the tunze DOC 9005. Perfect size, my skimmer chamber is only 6x11. I was going to go aquaC, but now leaning toward tunze.

The 9005/9010 is a great piece of hardware.. I love the simplicity of it. the main unit only needs a good scrub once every 8-10 months, and the collection cup embodies the entire reactor body -- so when you clean the collection cup you clean the reactor. Tune it once, then never touch it again

You know how to tell if the silicon job is good? Whether it holds water or not. You're just nit pickin' it like I would but function always beats form! Looking good Steve.
