Been trying to figure out who my little friend is and what he eats. I'm a big fan of zoas so when I saw that nudibranchs are notorious for eating them, he almost got a tour of the septic tank! After identifying him and figuring out what he eats, sponges, I'm afraid my 14g Bio Cube doesn't offer any sponges. Not to mention he looked really small in the bag at Reefs 2 U and turned out to be much larger. A good 2 1/2" plus. My question is, how do I get sponges or what else might he eat? Really hate to let him go to waste in my tank and it seems everyone is afraid of these guys. Here's a link to a pic for your enjoyment.

He/She is really cute. What kind of sponges does it like to eat?

I couldn't find what kind of sponges he prefered. I was kind of hoping someone on here would be able to help with that. I was told at time of purchase that he ate algae. I've since read that is a common misconception. I have some unidentifiable substance in my tank I suspect it is a sponge but not positive yet, need to see more growth. I do need to find a new home for him though. He's been in the same spot on the front corner of my cube and hasn't moved since day one. I noticed he spins around to face towards or away from the flow but I am worried about him eating. If you or someone you know of would like to have him, he's free to a good home for no charge. I'll even do my best to deliver or meet up because I live so far out.

I just picked one of these up earlier from Reefs2u ealier. I didnt know that they ate Zoas, if so, then Ill be taking him out of mine as well.

They don't eat Zoa's, they eat sponges...

If yours looks like mine he does not eat zoas. These guys are only interested in sponges, from what I've read. I read through alot of different pages at seaslugforum and other sites. Here's a link to all the info on this particular group.

Too bad those eat zoas Justin, they sure look interesting.

Not nearly as interesting in person, I can assure you -- they're about half an inch at full adult size, and just look like little dreadlocked-covered slugs... Mine had a bit of a purplish tint, but mostly gray/off-white -- they take on the colors of the zoas they are consuming.

I have had some success with the flat worm eating nudi....blue velvet. He has been doing well in my hubby's 75 reef. We have lots of food for him there. : D

I hope you find a home for this one...maybe someone with a lot of established sponges. If you haven't already, maybe you should post in the for sale forum.

I can tell you after observing mine for a week now that they love areas of high flow. He was in the upper front right corner where the stock flow from the Bio Cube was directed. After being off for two weeks I turned my nano power head back on and now he's right in front of that flow. All I can say is he sure is good at holding on!
