Dude, when I was learning spanish in El Paso I rang up a guy's order for gas and it came out to like $25.36 or something... so I told him venti-cinco peso e thrienti-seis centavo por favor...

And the guy, whom I had assumed was from the other side of the river, replied in letter perfect english... "Oh, you want pesos? I've got a pocket full of them young man." Hasty retreat, had to demand the dollars and I stopped assuming pesos and dolores were the same thing.

Oh, and please forgive my spanish but I tried to make it phonetic as possible.

I didn't so much as drove off as I sighed rather loudly and pulled my truck forward so he could put them in the back. Incidently, he too, after selling me the bars told me in really good english, thank you and please come back soon. His shop was a blanket on the side of the road. Haggling and tourism are not things I do well. :-)

If I had my MAAST card on me then I would have flashed that for a discount.

Well I appreciate all the feedback. The intent was to know whether I should be asking for deals or not. I guess it is better to ask for a deal to someone you have a good raport with rather than someone you don't. I totally agree that there is no need for anyone to be rude. I know now to ask for a deal there again lesson learned. They have nice prices on other things though like fish. My mistake was that I lived in Houston where I saw those leathers for $25-$35. I was not expecting the amount of feedback on this. It is interesting to find out different opionions. So thanks again.

We have sold stuff from our own tank and when someone comes to get a few items, I throw something in for free to say thanks.
I agree here, I never try or even expect a good deal on just a single piece, only when I buy in bulk
