Default Was I out of line?

So I am at the LFS and I see a nice leather so I ask the employee for a deal. The cost was $51. So she says $51 and I said I wanted a deal. She says I don't get a deal when I go to the mall. Was I out of line to ask for a better price? Is that the kind of Customer Service you get in San Antonio? I am just wondering.

I think it's okay to ask and it's okay for them to say 'No' too.

If you want to buy one item, pay the asking price. If you are going to buy three, four or more corals, then ask for a "deal". This way the shop is a little more inclined since you are dishing out some more cash.

We have sold stuff from our own tank and when someone comes to get a few items, I throw something in for free to say thanks.

I never ask for a deal. If they offer one great if they don't no big deal. When I go to a nice resturant I don't ask for a deal. The price is listed. If they offer ok I will take it. My problem is did you ask for a deal on the college education you got? Probably not. There are certain places where you can ask for a deal but for a $50.00 frag not... Either buy it or move on. Let the blasting begin. Can I get a deal on my maast dues?

+1 -- certain places, its part of the fun to haggle... but those are places that I either consider personal friends, or places that don't label prices across the board... If a price is marked, I judge its worth to me based on the sticker, not the item

Euromom, Roscozman, and Darth-tater all make valid points and I agree. I dont think you were out of line to ask, but to think it is bad customer service just because she wouldn't hook you up might be headed that way. They are a business and have to make money.

Guess that's my question on this. Are you complaining of bad customer service because they wouldn't give you a deal or was it how she answered you? $51 does not sound like too bad of a price for a leather.
