Thread: Leak:(

    Default Leak:(

I might have a very slow leak. I can't track it down, but I am getting about 1/2cup of water pooling at right rear base of my stand per day. I am not 100% convinced it is a leak, because I have been messing with the tank a lot since I am converting it fresh(lots of spills and water coming in and out of the tank). I have a fan on the area right now and it leaks so little that that prevents the pool. If i do indead have a leak I am going to completely drain the tank to repair it or have it repaired. It really sucks that this tank is a year and a half old and it probably already has a leak. I had a 25 yr old oceanic hex that is probably still working for the person I sold it to with no leaks.

This is a Perfecto/Marineland w/20yr warranty"if you by their stand". I bought a custom stand from Ace(much nicer!).

Anyone want to track down the leak and fix it for me if it indeed is leaking? Pm me with a price and we can work out a time.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Joe, leaks can come from all different places. Before you tear things down, make sure it's a seam. Squares of toilet paper work well for tracking them down.

Thanks Bill. i had the fan on it all day and now all is dry. I am going ot watch it for the next few days and see if it is actually a leak.

I had one of those 'appears like a leak'. I was already planning on how to take everything out of my 125, etc. Then it turned out to be just a random overflow trickle due to me messing with stuff. No leak.
Still unnerving when I saw that salt water trickle down the tank stand.
I hope yours isn't a real leak either.

I think I got it figured out. Thanks Euromom, I think I had the same issue. I have air line ran at an angle out of my return lines so that in the event of outage, vacuum stops quicker. Well on of the lines came out and the water appears to have been slowly trickling out of the tank.

    thanks for the help all.
