    Default CLEANING AN EXTERNAL PUMP

    How do you clean an external pump. I have a GENx40 that been running over 1.5yrs now...thanks
    Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...

    Buy 10' of tubing, attach one end to the pump, fill it up with vinegar, attach the other end, and run till it gets warm. Pour vinegar out and fill up with water and repeat process.

    You can remove the impeller housing. Sometimes, the bolts are a bit tight. If you strip the head, take a dremel tool and cut a new slot. Relube them when reinserting.
