Thread: ART LOVERS: SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE

Default ART LOVERS: SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE

I would like everyone to post their favorite art spot, art event, gallery or website and say why it is your favorite.

Let's get this one out of the way, BLUESTAR everyone knows that one.http://www.bluestarart.org/

I prefer "the Silos" in the back, huge grain storage cylinders made into galleries. BECAUSE they are independent galleries, and the art is not "judged" by the art directors. Plus they are far away from the brewery and the party people.

Ahh, good ol' Blue Star -- I had a charcoal/pastel drawing hung in the silos back during high school... quite a proud moment

I studied Art for two years in Europe so all my favorite spots are there but I'm subscribing to the thread to see what's here.

I've been to the McNay before for a super fun exhibit called Ruckus Rodeo. Loved it: big, bright 3 dimensional stuff.

    Oh corruption, go you! ;)

Yep, Mcnay. I've love their impressionist and post impressionist collection. They also have a van gough drawing. I heard there are only 3 pieces by him in the U.S.!

i went to an opening at art pace, and it was truly amazing. if you ever get the chance to see anything by Richie Budd from right here in san antonio. the piece he displayed at artpace was absolutely phenomenal. it was a party machine, with smoke, bubbles, lasers , strobe lights, music, aromatherapy, and even a margarita machine. to this day i cannot see any type of flashing lights without being transported back to that place.

I like visiting Wyland's site from time to time to see what he's been painting. I prefer his reef paintings.

    http://www.wyland.com/

I personally love LOTS of colors and of course the ocean....so his paintings do it for me.

I also like viewing paintings with different lighting effects and have my own own collection at www.robartglow.com (hope you don't mind me posting my portfolio site...just wanted to share)

This one is my fav... it glows with a black light and also in the dark. The right side below is with a blacklight on.
