Thread: powder brown tang?

  1. #1

    Default powder brown tang?

anyone had any personal experiance with this fish. i think they look cool and perfer them over most other (less expensive) tangs. i have a 125 tall so there is not alot of lateral movement space verse a 125 standard tank.
(currently have 3 firefish, one clown, one keyhole anglefish, one watchman goby.)

I have one. I just got him on Friday. Powder Browns can be sensitive to acclimation. Mine has only just recently, like today, started nipping algae off rocks.

Powder Browns are suseptible to ick. If you have a UV sterilizer I recommend running it for a few days before you get the tang, then leave it on for a week or two, just to get him through the acclimation with as little ick as possible.

All tangs are susceptible to ich, but the Powder Blue and Powder Brown have earned the common nicknames of "Ich Magnets" -- they are traditionally some of the less hardy tangs around, and even minor stress can bring out an outbreak.
