Mantis Shrimp

I've seen a few videos and done a little reading on keeping mantis shrimp. I saw a large peacock mantis at Awana today and it got the wheels turning in my head. Anybody have any experience with keeping these guys? I'm thinking one would look great in a separate tank.

Ask Ed at ed aquatics he had one for some time i think he sold it but he was pretty cool when he was eating lol

used to have about 5" long in a small acrylic tank - very cool to keep. they have lots of personality and will interact with you quite a bit, you just have to watch out for that smacking

don-n-sa use to have a larger one in a 58 gallon tank for a long time.

These are not recommended in a glass tank correct?

the main threat to glass tanks is the bottom - they crack it when trying to dig a burrow. you may be ok if you place a sheet of HDPE in the bottom to guard it.

But is it worth the risk though is the question. I was talking to some at AD and they said he had a customer that had one it shattered the front. He said that when they snap the claws is like 22 bullet coming out.
